Position Summary:

Responsible for route scouting, process development and manufacture of intermediates and target compounds.

Education and Experience:

PhD in chemistry and 3-10 years industrial experience in chemical process development and manufacturing.  A postdoc and other academic experience cannot account for more than 2 of these years. A Master of Science in chemistry and 15 years industrial experience required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Design reaction schemes to prepare assigned targets with no supervision
  2. Run reactions and optimize synthetic steps to improve reaction yield and isolation methods.
  3. Purify crude products by precipitation, crystallization or distillation methods
  4. Establish in-process controls to result robust chemical processes
  5. Apply DoE and QbD methods for process optimization
  6. Apply PAT tools to design, analyze and control manufacturing processes
  7. Identify critical process parameters which effect critical quality attributes
  8. Maintain chemistry synthesis notebook(s) and batch records as applicable
  9. Provide oral and written updates to as requested
  10. Provides written weekly updates and final synthesis reports to supervisor(s)
  11. Characterize compounds with little to no supervision.
  12. Attend all relevant safety training and follow SOPs
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Language Ability:

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, co-workers, and clients. Write scientific reports and synthesis procedures in order to enable other researchers. Effective presentation of information and responses to questions from managers, co-workers, and clients.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Ability to solve problems and analyze data without supervision

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have significant knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Explorer, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, ChemDraw, Reaxys, Scifinder and etc.
