Alkyl Fluorination | Methods and Materials

18 September 2019

Event overview

Organofluorine compounds are frequently encountered in the pharmaceutical, agrochemical and fine chemical industries. Often the selective introduction of a fluorine atom or functional group into a molecule can be challenging, particularly at scale, with chemists often designing synthetic routes in which fluorine is introduced through strategic sourcing of raw materials rather than synthetically.

Alkyl fluoro derivatives are an important class of compounds frequently used in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery for pKa modulation, blocking oxidative metabolism and fine-tuning lipophilicity. In addition, the fluorine atom can make key stereoelectronic and binding interactions. Following on from our successful webinar earlier this year on aryl and heteroaryl fluorination we move on to discuss synthetic approaches available for alkyl fluorination, highlighting recent methodology and examples.

This FREE to attend webinar was presented by Dr John Studley, Scientific Update and was kindly sponsored by Valliscor, experts in alkylfluorination.
