As a highly skilled and creative chemist, you will take a leading role to design sustainable manufacturing processes delivering small-molecule drugs at large scale, ensuring long-term supplies to our patients.
This position is based in Basel, Switzerland, within the Technical R&D department of Global Drug Development.
Within this organization, Chemical & Analytical Development (CHAD) plays a meaningful role in the development of processes for manufacturing and analysis of highest quality drug substances, both small molecules and new chemical modalities.

Your Responsibilities:
• With your expertise and creativity in development of manufacturing processes you take a leading role in defining sustainable manufacturing processes and strategies for small-molecule projects.
• Processes developed with your contribution will be scalable, robust, and ensure consistently high quality for supplying clinical trials as well as transfer to commercial operations. In our labs, your experimental designs will be executed and allow you to interpret and report data and results.
• As a member of a cross-functional project team, you will collaborate closely with our internal and external partners to ensure timely and quality delivery of processes and new drugs to our patients. You will also contribute with relevant process documentation to support filing of health authority dossiers.
• As a core member of the environmental sustainability team, you will closely collaborate with our designated experts and participate in internal/external benchmarking, as well as identifying opportunities to reduce the environmental footprint in our project portfolio.
• You will also actively participate in scientific exchange groups within Novartis and Academia as well as maintain excellent collaborations with our customers.

What you’ll bring to the role:
• PhD in Synthetic Chemistry or equivalent, experience as Post-Doc in multi-cultural environment is preferred
• Scientific curiosity coupled with recognized achievements in the field of small molecule synthetic chemistry, experience with synthetic chemistry in water is an advantage
• True passion for environmental sustainability and the fight against climate change
• Experience / exposure, or at least willingness to develop data science skillset
• Dedicated, thoughtful and flexible team working skills

Desirable Requirements:
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required; knowledge of German is a plus
• Excellent knowledge of laboratory and/or technical tools
