Postdoctoral Researcher - FLIX

Our company, X-Chem Zrt., is part of the American X-Chem group of companies: our chemists are engaged in synthetic chemistry. With the technology, products and services developed in Hungary, our company primarily supports early-stage drug research, focusing on the latest technologies.

Duration: 1 year with possible extension for 6 months, starting as soon as possible.

Task:

The position is funded by a grant from Europe (FET OPEN: project FLIX). FLIX is a radically new concept for the ultimate-stage chemical isotopic labelling of high added-value molecules (drugs, biologics, smart materials) with stable isotopes. It combines the following expertise: isotopic labelling, catalysts synthesis and flow chemistry. The ultimate outcome of the project is to devise and build a modular and adaptable flow chemistry system for the straightforward and combinable isotopic labelling of complex chemicals and biologics (2H, 13C, 15N). FLIX synergistically associates the expertise and innovation potential of a mixed academic/industrial multidisciplinary consortium.

The Postdoctoral Researcher will work on hydrogen and carbon isotope exchange reactions. The main objectives of the post-doctoral researcher will be either to discover new flow methodologies for the isotopic labelling of pharmaceutically relevant molecules or to take partin the development of automated isotope labeling systems. The choice of the topic will depend on the personal experience and interest of the candidate.

Expectation:

Ph.D. or equivalent experience in synthetic chemistry (organic chemistry or related field) or chemical engineering (automation, DoE, self-optimization, ML)

Research experience demonstrated through publications

Works and thinks independently

Excellent knowledge of English (both written and oral)

Experience in flow chemistry, isotope labelling, or photochemistry is an advantage
