Scientific Update to Welcome New Technical Associate for North America & Asia Pacific – Dr Ben Littler

Scientific Update is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Ben Littler, formerly Executive Director  Process Chemistry for Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Ben will join the team at Scientific Update in August 2022 as Technical Associate, North America & Asia Pacific bringing over 20 years’ experience in drug discovery, process chemistry and scale up, having previously worked for AMRI and Vertex Pharmaceuticals. He will be involved in teaching some of Scientific Update’s training courses and in developing new courses and contributing to our conference programme. Ben will also play a major role in consultancy where his experience working with both large and small biotechs will be particularly useful.

Dr John Studley, Scientific Director, commented: “I have known Ben for a number of years and look forward to working closely with him again.  He will bring new ideas and experiences to Scientific Update and that can only be good for the future. It shows the strength of the Scientific Update brand that we can attract someone of Ben’s proven ability.

Dr Claire Francis, Marketing Director, added: “We are delighted that Ben has chosen to join our team. His technical expertise and commercial experience in both discovery and process chemistry will be a great asset as we seek to expand our portfolio of events. Ben is eager to ‘give back’ to the process chemistry community and we look forward to working with him

Hannah May, Operations Director, remarked: “Phoebe, Vicky, Helen and I are very excited to be working with Ben and to develop our training courses and events.   I am sure we will keep him busy, but don’t worry we will make sure he still has time to ensure we are continuing to deliver current and inspiring courses and content”

Speaking about his new role, Ben said: “I am really excited at the opportunity to join the Scientific Update team to develop new training materials, host events and grow the business globally. Attending courses, conferences and consulting sessions arranged by Scientific Update helped me grow as a scientist, and build my professional network throughout my career. I hope that in my new role I can do the same for others.”
