Leading Process Chemistry: Bec Newton Takes the Helm as Scientific Director

Since joining the organisation in 2024, Bec has demonstrated exceptional leadership, creativity, and scientific insight, taking on a wide variety of responsibilities and “wearing many hats” across the business. In a fitting tribute to her adventurous spirit and dynamic influence, the announcement is accompanied by a photo of Bec on the bridge of a ship symbolising the energy, enthusiasm, and strategic direction she brings to Scientific Update.

In her new role, Bec will lead Scientific Update’s technical team. She will be responsible for:

– Developing and expanding the company’s training course content
– Curating scientific programmes for global conferences
– Monitoring and communicating key developments in process chemistry to support the wider community

This appointment reflects Scientific Update’s continued commitment to excellence in scientific education, innovation, and community engagement within the fields of process chemistry and chemical development.

“I attended my first Scientific Update training course as a new graduate nearly 25 years ago. That experience proved formative, ultimately inspiring me to pursue a PhD before returning to industry. Now, it feels like I’ve come full circle by joining Scientific Update, and I’m excited to work with the team to continue delivering high-quality training to the next generation.”
