Process Analytical Technology (PAT) in the Fine Chemical Industry Conference

30 June 2021
Online Event

Event overview

  • A 1-day online meeting with industry leading process chemists and engineers presenting case studies, subject matter insights, and opinion.
  • This unique event focuses specifically on the science and technology associated with the synthesis and manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients.
  • Presentations will showcase how Process Analytical Technology (PAT) can be used as a tool for increasing process understanding, robustness, reproducibility and efficiency, both in development and commercial production.

Via an online platform, there will be the chance to listen to the talks, view the speakers slides and ask questions after each session. The Virtual conference will be held during the following times (based on UK timing) as we hope this will allow most people to join from around the world.  This event will NOT BE RECORDED – we apologise to customers in Asia who might be unable to join.

Wednesday June 30th |  2.00 – 5.40 pm (UK)

There will be a VIRTUAL Exhibition too so you will be able to have access to suppliers of  equipment, technology and services. Plus we have some exciting new developments to keep you engaged and enable networking with your peers – so please look out for our announcements.

Hosted Discussion Groups – details will be shown on our programme soon.

Please contact us if you are interested in Exhibiting or Sponsoring this event:  [email protected]

You may also be interested in attend our Polymorphism & Crystallisation Conference, which will be on June 28th and 30th, if you register for both conferences you will receive a £25.00 overall discount, this will be applied upon registration, click here for more information on the Conference.

Jason Williams
Jason Williams
Postdoctoral Researcher, Center for Continuous Flow Synthesis and Processing (CC FLOW)
Arrow Down

Jason Williams is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Continuous Flow Synthesis and Processing (CC FLOW), based in Graz (Austria). He completed an undergraduate degree in Chemistry (2014) at the University of Sheffield (UK), with a year industrial experience in medicinal chemistry at AstraZeneca. This was followed by a PhD on the GlaxoSmithKline/University of Strathclyde collaborative PhD Programme, under the supervision of Prof. Billy Kerr, working on novel amidation methods enabled by new synthetic technologies such as flow and photochemistry. Since 2018, Jason has worked in the Kappe group, where his research interests are based in the areas of PAT and process control in flow as well as flow photochemistry.

Dr Ali Saleemi
Dr Ali Saleemi
Senior PAT Scientist, GSK
Arrow Down

Dr Ali Saleemi has background in chemical engineering and did his PhD in pharmaceutical crystallization and PAT from Loughborough University, this was followed by a post doc at the same institute. He joined GSK in 2014 and has since worked on implementation of new technologies and PAT in small molecules, biopharm and cell and gene therapies.

Dr Yining Ji Chen
Dr Yining Ji Chen

Yining received her Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Barcelona in Spain in 2011 and was a postdoctoral researcher at the Scripps Research Institute working with Professor Donna Blackmond. She then joined Merck Process chemistry in late 2014. Since joining Merck, she has continued to apply her expertise in mechanistic studies to chemical transformations for better process understanding and optimization. To date, Yining has a strong track record of collaboration on projects leading to key impacts on a series of Merck pipeline projects and has coauthored 11 Merck publications.

Dr Heidi Fisk
Dr Heidi Fisk
Senior Scientist in PAT, AstraZeneca
Arrow Down

Studied Medicinal & Biological Chemistry at The University of Nottingham followed by a PhD in Chemistry at The University of Manchester studying the development of Raman spectroscopy to directly monitor biotransformations. Heidi joined AstraZeneca in 2017 as a senior scientist specialising within Process Analytical Technology (PAT) for drug substance (API) development. This involves providing process understanding during the development of APIs using spectroscopic methods, along with creating in-situ methods for lab to pilot plant scale synthesis, with a focus on oligonucleotide development.
