Mike Williams
Mike Wiliams gained his PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Liverpool in 1972, following his BSc (King’s College, London) and a year in Discovery Chemistry at ICI Pharmaceuticals (now AstraZeneca). During his 35 year career in Chemical R&D with Pfizer at Sandwich, Mike built a broad knowledge of all phases of drug development, and in 2003 he was appointed Head and Executive Director of Chemical R&D. Mike’s experience with ~50 early drug candidates includes outsourcing, solid form issues and project management, and he gained a global company reputation for his work at the Discovery/Development interface and for his pivotal role in cutting both time and cost to reach early candidate milestones. Mike also played a significant role in the late development, filing and transfer to production of several agents which have become major commercial products. Since retiring from Pfizer in late 2007, he has set up as a consultant.
